The Consultation & Vision
It begins with your vision. In our initial consultation, we dive deep into your goals and the story you want to tell. As your project partner, I work with you to translate this into a concrete project brief.
Phase 2:
The Concept & The Masters
We present the brief to The Apex Carving Team. Lead Master Carver Jeff Mohr will collaborate directly with you to develop concept sketches, forging raw ideas into an actionable artistic blueprint.
Phase 3:
The Sourcing & The Site
Every masterpiece begins with a legendary canvas. This can be a monumental tree we source for you, or a beloved giant already on your property. We specialize in assessing your existing trees for structural integrity and safety. Right now, a tragic story is unfolding across Austin and the Texas Hill Country as Oak Wilt claims many majestic oaks. We see an opportunity to honor their legacy by carving them where they stand. A thorough site analysis is key, allowing us to plan logistics for either sourcing new wood or performing the work on-site.
Phase 4:
The Execution & The Event
The arrival of The Apex Carving Team is an event in itself. For on-site projects, our masters can carve the tree directly in the ground, transforming it with precision and power. If the artistic design or structural integrity requires it, we have the technical expertise to surgically detach the completed sculpture from its stump for finishing and reinstallation as a permanent, stable landmark. We manage the entire process, providing you with regular visual updates as your landmark takes shape.
Phase 5:
The Unveiling & The Legacy
Upon completion, we manage the final finishing, sealing, and professional installation of the sculpture. The project concludes not just with a delivery, but with an unveiling—a celebration of a new landmark that will stand for generations.

The idea for Monumental Woodworks came directly from a conversation with a leader in the carving world. We talked about how often I received requests for immense sculptures—the kind that are 12, 15, even 25 feet tall—projects so large they required a team of the best. Lately, with the heartbreaking spread of Oak Wilt, those conversations feel more urgent than ever. Seeing these magnificent Hill Country oaks threatened, I knew we had to offer a way to preserve their story. I believe in collaboration, and lifting up the carving community. So, I built a new way to work.
My name is DustyGirl Kosmach, and I am your project partner and advocate. My role through Monumental Woodworks is to be the strategic and logistical backbone for your vision. I handle the contracts, timelines, sourcing wood while ensuring clear communication from start to finish. I provide the structure so that artistry can flourish.
